Are you feeling stuck?

Many of us reach a point in time where we don’t know what to do next.

Perhaps a relationship simply isn’t working but we’re not sure to leave or stay.

Maybe we’re overinvesting our time and effort into a job we don’t like or enjoy.

We could be coasting along in life with no major issues but not really feeling satisfied or achieving the goals we thought we would.

‍Stuckness is a feeling of being caught between what you are doing and what you would like to do. It can happen when stress, burnout or overwhelm traps us in a pattern of unhappiness with no clear idea of what’s next or how to make things better.

What is stuckness?

Feeling stuck in a life, job, relationship or situation can be lonely and frightening. It’s often hard to describe what the core “problem” is, but we feel it in our bodies.

‍Stuckness can stop us from enjoying everyday life, make us want to withdraw from people and leave us feeling disengaged with things that used to bring us joy.

Even though stuckness can negatively impact how we feel and behave, the thought of making a change in a relationship, a job or other part of our lives can be terrifying. Moving out of home. Leaving a relationship. Choosing a different career. Starting a new hobby to meet people and make new connections. No matter how old or young we are, no matter what life stage we are at, all of these actions can feel too big to fathom.

How do we unstick?

‍The key to start feeling more free in the choices you have is to start small.

That might be something as simple as making time in each day for yourself to take a short walk and clear your head. It might be starting a feelings journal so you can start to track what triggers feelings of stress or sadness each day. It might be changing your routine so that you and your needs come first and not last.

‍The reality is that it is hard to make changes, but you deserve to be happy, and change can be a way to find what that means for you.

‍You don’t have to stay stuck, tired, bored, frustrated or stressed.
